By the time the ‘cake shot’ arrives, people have eaten, they feel bloated, they’ve possible consumed large amounts of alcohol, and they’re only doing it because tradition (and usually the wedding planner) warrants it.
The groom has to be the man in this situation, taking the knife, cutting the cake cleanly with meticulous attention to detail. He must then smile at the 10,000 cameras on him and his wife, whilst awkwardly posing with a slice of cake.
There will often be a few people taking videos too, and it really is one of those awkward wedding rituals, and I can only hope that in time, society changes, and we leave that disaster of a wedding photo behind. If you’re getting married in the not too distant future, then be bold, leave out the cake shot because there’s a really good chance you won’t come out looking good! And the bad news is, that will be the one photo that gets repeated on your Facebook news feed for weeks!
